Oxford's biggest cultural extravaganza

The Oxford International Festival is Oxford's biggest cultural extravaganza with food, performances, and cultural stalls from all over the world. Last year's Festival was very successful, with 32 national and cultural societies coming together to set up 19 food stalls, 23 cultural stalls and 10 performances. Over 1,500 people attended the OIF last year. This year we aim to make it even better!

 

UNLOCKING DIVERSITY

Diversity is something we cherish here at Oxford, and we believe there is no better way to raise awareness of this fact than to have the cultural and national societies coming together to showcase their cultural heritage. The festival will have 3 main parts:

INTERNATIONAL FOOD FAIR
So far we have around 20 societies coming to set up food stalls to sell their proudest national dishes. Come and treat yourself with world cuisine from Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia and America.

CULTURAL SHOWCASE
Cultural and national societies will be showcasing their cultural heritage, sell handicrafts, and offer cultural services - e.g. Chinese character writing, Salsa dancing lessons, etc.

LIVE PERFORMANCES
Throughout the day there will be live cultural performances - including national dances, live world music, a cappella singing, and more.

Aims of the Oxford International Festival

• Raise awareness of the diversity among staff and students at the University of Oxford.
• Provide a platform for the celebration of both cultural diversity and integration.
• Offer students and local residents the chance to experience a variety of different cultures at one central venue.
• Support under-represented international students at Oxford, by collaborating with other national-interest societies.
